Burntisland-Flekkefjord Town Twinning
Promoting international friendship and understanding through cultural links and mutual exchange between our two Communities.
Historic town twinning

Burntisland has been twinned with Flekkefjord since February 1946, and is believed to be one of the oldest town twinning links in the world.
In 2026, we'll celebrate the 80th anniversary of the link between Burntisland and Flekkefjord.

“If there’s one thing I’ll never forget, it’s the people, they are kind, welcoming, yet not too loud, and I can’t remember a single time where I felt uncomfortable. It was incredibly clean too, it blew me away how little litter I saw, it’s a really nice atmosphere.”- Sam
